The Swiss technology hub is moving to Paradeplatz, the city's central banking square. The fintech birthplace is home to than 20 start-ups centered around blockchain, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

Trust Square will move into its new, permanent home across from the five-star Savoy Baur en Ville Hotel on Zurich's Paradeplatz in January, the hub said in a statement on Tuesday. The rental on the project's current workspace across from Switzerland's central bank, onto which Trust Square projecting a huge bitcoin symbol  to celebrate its launch, runs out this month.

The hub's new home in the city's prestigious banking district underscores that traditional Swiss finance can't get around blockchain, crypto, and fintech – issues it has been hesitant to embrace. Trust Square's new offices will house 200 workspaces, an event room with capacity for 170 guests, and a lounge.

Public Role

Trust Square's first 19 months in its current space, which formerly housed VP Bank of Liechtenstein and a major law firm, saw 185 events which brought together nearly 13,000 guests. The hub hosted 65 delegations of government and corporate representatives, including the mayor of Seoul last year.

More than 20 firms, almost all current Trust Square tenants involved in blockchain, cybersecurity, Internet of things, and artificial intelligence, will make the move. The hub said its location in the midst of a frequently-traveled part of Zurich is meant to help embed public trust in technology as well as foster an open dialogue.
