4. Aymo Brunetti

Aymo Brunetti 530

The only person on the list to never have worked at a bank, Aymo Brunetti is little-known outside of close-knit political and banking circles. The Swiss economist knows Swiss banks and finance better than most, having shaped the government's policy on thorny issues like banking secrecy.

The 56-year-old professor advanced to the government's go-to man to negotiate with the private sector over «too-big-to-fail» post-crisis rules and eventually data-swapping with other countries. Four years ago, the finance department named him head of an advisory council on the future of finance which was instrumental in repairing the scorched earth between the private and public sectors in favor of a cohesive dialogue.
