The Genevan wealth manager wants to expand its business of offshore banking with rich clients out of Zurich.

Of the Genevan private banks expanding into other parts of Switzerland, Reyl is a pioneer: the family-controlled wealth manager opened a Zurich office more than five years ago. The team is now roughly 20 people, Reyl said.

Run by Michael Welti and his deputy Christian Bauer, the bank caters to clients from Switzerland, the U.K., Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, Israel, Russian-speaking countries, and Asia.

Reyl now plans to expand its growth efforts with an overseas unit for U.S. offshore clients, from Zurich. Last year, the Zurich arm expanded its platform for family offices and independent asset managers
