Swiss wealth manager 1291 Group has opened a branch in Geneva and hired an ex-Credit Suisse banker as head of office.

The Geneva office is the second branch of 1291 Group in Switzerland, which launched its business in Zurich. The two financial markets are very distinct in character, which is why the company decided to open up shop in Geneva, according to Marc-André Sola, the founder and chairman of the firm.

Samy Reeb has been appointed as head of office in Geneva. He previously worked for Credit Suisse, Julius Baer and J.P. Morgan. His specialty are wealth planning and tax law.

Insurance Wrappers

1291 Group specializes in so-called private placement life insurances, otherwise known as insurance wrappers. Main clients are family offices, other wealth managers, fiduciaries and tax lawyers.

The Geneva-based team includes Catherine Martin Mathy, who joined from Deutsche Bank, and Caroline Bennett-Akkaya, who has worked both for Credit Suisse and Swisspartners Marcuard Heritage.
