Banque Cantonale Vaudoise is proposing a long-standing banker to preside its board.

The government of Vaud is nominating Eftychia Fischer to preside Banque Cantonale Vaudoise, or BCV, the bank said in a statement. She is next year poised to replace current chairman Jacques de Watteville, Switzerland's former top finance diplomat who reaches age limits this year.

Fischer, who is Greek-Swiss, is already on the board of BCV, which is Switzerland's second-largest cantonal bank. She began her career in 1986 at Société Générale Strauss Turnbull in London trading derivatives. She subsequently worked for J.P. Morgan, Julius Baer, and EFG International in Paris and Zurich.

Executive To Board

Union Bancaire Privée named her head of treasury and trading in 2010, and two years later she also took over the Swiss bank's asset management unit until 2015. The de Picciotto family which controls UBP then tapped her for a board role.

Fischer, who studied physics at Imperial College London, also sits on the board of Swiss insurer Vaudoise. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Financial Risk Manager, and completed Wharton Business School's advanced management program.
