The Swiss bank appointed a lawyer from its private bank as the new general counsel for its domestic banking unit.

The Zurich-based firm is naming Renato Costantini as general counsel in Switzerland, in said in a statement on Monday. The 44-year-old is advancing after Credit Suisse promoted Thomas Grotzer, who held the job for the last five years, advanced to top management amidst Archegos and Greensill.

Costantini, who has worked for Credit Suisse since 2011, is currently head of legal products and wealth planning as well as of legal trading, brokerage, custody, and payments. He holds a PhD in law from the University of Lucerne, worked for a Zurich municipal court, and at white-collar law firm Niederer Kraft & Frey before joining Credit Suisse.

The bank elected to split up the dual risk and compliance role that Lara Warner had held since last summer in the wake of twin scandals roiling the bank. While Grotzer took the compliance job, the risk role is temporarily back with the executive who held it before Warner, Joachim Oechslin.
