The software company is replacing its head of Switzerland with a veteran of IBM. This comes a few months after it lost a significant part of its Swiss business.

U.S.-based Cognizant is appointing Thomas Gassenbauer (pictured below) as managing director of its Swiss business effective immediately, according to trade press «Inside Channels» (in German). The IT professional replaces Stefan Metzger, who ran the Swiss business for 13 years.

Gassenbauer will also join the technology provider’s leadership team in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Gassenbauer previously worked at IBM where he looked after one the company’s biggest global clients.

In the past, UBS was one of Cognizant's long-standing clients, which it provided with up to 200 staff members under contract. This changed when UBS' CEO Ralph Hamers came on board last year, bringing entire IT departments back in house. In April this year Cognizant lost around $60 million worth of its UBS business, after the bank elected not to renew a service contract.
