Recent changes at the very top of Switzerland’s largest bank are reshaping the bank's Swiss unit.

The board of UBS' Swiss arm will propose Markus Ronner as its new chair and Barbara Lambert as a new independent member at its annual general meeting on April 5, the bank said in a statement on Monday.

Ronner is a top executive of the parent UBS, where he overseens compliance and governance. He will continue in that role alongside chairing the Swiss bank, the statement says. Ronner joined UBS in 1981 and was responsible for the implementation of the new regulatory requirements and governance structure at UBS.

Hubert Achermann, who has served as a board member since the Swiss unit was created in 2015, will not stand for re-election. Ronner succeeds Lukas Gaehwiler, who was nominated last month to become the group’s new vice chair, following the appointment of Colm Kelleher as the group's chair.

Lambert, who sits on Pictet’s board, also serves as a member of the board of directors of Germany’s stock exchange Deutsche Boerse. Previously Lambert headed the private bank’s internal audit and was a partner at Ernst & Young (EY) Switzerland.
