J. Safra Sarasin, a Swiss-Brazilian private bank, appears to be benefiting from problems at its larger rival.

J. Safra Sarasin is hiring Daniel Wild (pictured below) as chief sustainability officer, effective March 1, it said  in a statement on Wednesday. He is currently at Credit Suisse as global head of strategy for environmental, societal, and governance issues.

Wild is to replace Jan Amrit Poser, who will take on a new role outside of banking, the firm said. Sasja Beslik, J. Safra Sarasin's head of sustainable finance development, left in August, according to LinkedIn.

Blow For Credit Suisse

The hire of Wild is a blow to Credit Suisse, where Marisa Drew had nabbed him from Robeco in 2019 to oversee the Swiss bank's ESG strategies globally. He is joining J. Safra Sarasin as a managing director in Zurich in a very similar role.

Credit Suisse's sustainability push is in disarray following a wider reorganization disclosed last week, as finews.com reported on Wednesday. Lydie Hudson – one of the few sustainability executives to sit in top management of a major lender – will leave Credit Suisse next year.
