A 17-year legal veteran of the Swiss bank responsible for contentious regulatory and complex investigatory work is exiting.

Damian Bisseker, Zurich-based Credit Suisse's head of litigation in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, is leaving to become executive European counsel at Cahill Gordon & Reindel, effective immediately, according to his LinkedIn profile

The exit of the U.K. lawyer, who is 17-year veteran of Credit Suisse, was first reported by the«Financial Times» (behind paywall) on Friday. Bisseker will have spearheaded some of Credit Suisse's trickiest legal suits, which at the moment include suing Softbank over Greensill as well as a prominent Saudi Arabian client.

Unvarnished Comments

Bisseker spoke four years ago about the inherent potential for conflict in Credit Suisse's «one-bank» set-up, as «In-House Lawyer» reported. Bisseker said if he wanted to pursue ligitation in such circumstances, he would have to put a lengthy proposal together for Credit Suisse's general counsel, which is Romeo Cerutti, to approve first, the trade outlet reported.

His is the latest in a series of top-level departures including risk and compliance boss Lara Warner as well as Brin Chin, investment banking chief, last April following Greensill and Archegos the prior month. Since then, the Swiss bank has lost a swath of bankers at its securities unit.
