The Swiss structured products and derivatives specialist significantly increased its profit in 2021. High income from the commission and services business helped the result soar.

Leonteq posted profits of 155.7 million francs ($168 million) last year, more than tripling 2020’s result of 39.9 million, the company said Thursday.

Operating income grew 78 percent to 417.8 million francs, mainly driven by high fee and commission income of 306.7 million francs and positive trading income of 112.4 million.

Market recovery boosts profits

During 2020, particularly in the first half, high financial market volatility in the wake of the Corona pandemic caused Leonteq's business to plummet. The ensuing recovery in 2021 helped ensure significantly better results.

Last year's performance will benefit shareholders in the form of a higher dividend of 3.00 francs compared to 0.75 in 2020.
