The Swiss Federal Council is fully adopting EU sanctions. Government sees no threat to the Swiss financial center.

Switzerland's Federal Council decided to adopt the EU sanctions of February 23 and 25 without exception, it said in an extraordinary meeting Monday. Assets of sanctioned persons, including President Vladimir Putin, will be frozen with immediate effect (as of 6 p.m. Monday).

At a press conference held in Bern, President Ignazio Cassis (pictured below) emphasized this move to take over the sanctions list had to be thoroughly examined from Switzerland's perspective of neutrality.
