An independent asset management firm in St. Gallen just got its banking license from Finma. Now it wants to help others get theirs.

Consensus Partner was granted a Swiss banking license from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma), a process which tied up a lot of resources the St. Gallen-based asset manager said.

The firm is the first traditional asset manager in the eastern part of Switzerland to receive a license from Finma, which it views as an indispensable part of its business.

Helping Others

«As one of the largest asset managers in eastern Switzerland, it was important for us to present all processes and procedures ourselves. Due to our size, we were able to draw on sufficient internal resources,» said Michael Jordi, managing director of Consensus Partner.

Due to its size, the company is also prepared to support other asset managers who do not want to bear such a large administrative burden themselves, Jordi added.

New Partner

Obtaining the Finma license is part of the firm's growth strategy. It will also add another senior partner in May this year.
