Following his investment in private bank EFG, rock-star banker Boris Collardi is investing in Italian soccer.

Italian football (soccer) club US Lecce is celebrating winning the second division championship recently, earning it promotion to Serie A, Italy's highest division in the sport.

Enter Boris Collardi, who recently bought a stake in the private bank EFG, has now acquired a ten percent stake in the club and is reported to be seeking a longer-term commitment.

Return of Collardi

Collardi served as CEO of Swiss private bank Julius Baer and then as a partner of Geneva-based private bank Pictet where he had to maintain a «low profile», as finews.com reported in April.

Following his departure from Pictet, Collardi did keep a low profile, surfacing only recently upon purchasing a 3.6 percent stake in EFG bank from the bank's founder Spiros J. Latsis. Based on EFG's market capitalization, his stake is worth around $82 million.

Another banker from Geneva, René de Picciotto also has invested in US Lecce. He founded the asset management firm Fransad Gestion which was acquired by Julius Baer in 2015 when Collardi was still at the firm.
