A Swiss man, apparently lacking horse sense, has been charged for illegally importing an animal drug, which Corona-skeptics said helped against Covid.

The 59-year-old banker has been fined 3,000 Swiss francs for importing Ivermectin on a large scale from India, «Sonntagsblick» (behind paywall, in German) wrote on Sunday.

Despite warnings from the authorities including Swissmedic, there was a widespread belief among Corona skeptics during the pandemic that the deworming agent for horses and cows, Ivermectin, could also help treat humans against covid.

Serious Consequences

The US Food & Drug posted a tweet last year saying: «You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y'all. Stop it,» after people, who had taken the drug, had to be hospitalized.

The man, who was active in discussions with Corona skeptics on social media, imported 2500 tablets of the deworming drug last autumn, the newspaper said.
