Vontobel CEO Zeno Staub is joining a global corporation as a member of the Board of Directors. The company is now in its fifth generation of family ownership.

Vontobel CEO Zeno Staub is to be elected to the Board of Directors of the St. Gallen-based technology group Buehler, with shareholders voting at an extraordinary general meeting tomorrow, according to the company's website

The Buehler Group is a family-owned, globally active company founded in 1860. Jeannine, Maya, and Karin Buehler are the fifth generation to own the company and represent the interests of the family on the Board of Directors. Stefan Scheiber is the sixth CEO to lead the Buehler Group since its founding.

Worldwide Billion Dollar Group

In 2019, the firm generated sales of 3.3 billion Swiss francs ($3.4 billion) and counted around 12,800 employees in its ranks. Buehler is active in 140 countries, operating a global network of 98 service stations, 32 production sites, and 25 application centers. In 2020, the company celebrated its 160th anniversary.

Upon his election, Staub will be able to meet an old acquaintance on the supervisory board, former private banker Konrad Hummler, with whom he has a long business relationship. Today, Hummler is Chairman of the Board of Nebelspalter and Private Client Bank in Zurich.

A Versatile Career

Staub, who hails from eastern Switzerland, began his career as a founding shareholder and managing partner of Almafin. There he worked in consulting and software development from 1994 to 2000, focusing on risk management, asset and liability management, and legal reporting.

In 2000, he was a member of the Executive Board of BZ Informatik in Zurich, now Avaloq, a provider of banking software, services, and digital technology that provides platforms and services for financial institutions.

Heading Vontobel Since 2011

Staub joined Vontobel in 2001 as head of the CFO Management Support Unit, responsible for controlling the IT project portfolio. From 2001 to 2006, he was Chief Financial Officer, then Head of Investment Banking, and from 2008, Head of Asset Management.

From 2008, he strategically realigned Vontobel's Asset Management business unit successfully positioning it in the market. Staub has been CEO of Vontobel Holding and Bank Vontobel since 2011.
