There is a change of personnel at the top level of the lobby organization for the Geneva financial center.

Geneva private banker Yves Mirabaud is handing over the presidency of the Fondation Genève Place Financière (Geneva Financial Center Foundation) over which he presided since 2016, according to a statement Thursday.

He is succeeded by board member Denis Pittet, a Pittet a managing partner of Geneva-based private bank Lombard Odier since 2017 and is a member of the board of the Association of Swiss Private Banks (VSPB).

For Mirabaud, taxation was a central issue, and during his tenure, the GFC supported corporate tax reform (Federal Act on Tax Reform) and argued against proposed legislation to increase individual taxation, which poses a serious threat to Geneva’s fiscal attractiveness.

Strategic Focus

The Geneva Financial Center Foundation is headed by a 14-member committee representing the various players in the financial center, including private bankers, large banks, commercial and management banks, foreign banks, cantonal banks, independent asset managers, trustees, lawyers, and commodity traders.

The Committee determines the strategic priorities of the Foundation. A permanent secretariat is responsible for the operational aspects, headed by Edouard Cuendet.
