Switzerland's second-largest bank wants to grow its business with private clients. In Zurich, it has appointed a new head of affluent clients, as finews.com learned.

Credit Suisse is hiring Madlene Walti to head one of two teams in the affluent segment at its landmark Paradeplatz branch, effective immediately. Reporting to Sabine Heller, Walti will lead a team offering advisory services, including Life Plan - a concept that covers all phases of financial life planning.

Walti joins from Postfinance, where she worked for 16 years, most recently heading a team of around 20 at the Winterthur branch. Last year, she was interim head of the entire Eastern Switzerland region, including Ticino. Prior to her role at Postfinance, she worked in business development at Migros Bank.

Market in the Making

As finews.ch (in German) recently reported Credit Suisse's wealth management division has high hopes when it comes to affluent clients and millionaires. Consultants predict that these two segments will generate a global income stream of $45 billion by 2026.
