A former bank CEO has been elected to the board of directors of Postfinance where the digitization professional will represent the interests of Swiss Post.

At its annual general meeting, Postfinance formally elected Maria Teresa Vacalli to the board of directors effective April 7. Vacalli was a member of the board of directors of Swiss Post since May 2022, and with her new mandate, she will represent the parent company on Postfinance's supervisory board, according to a statement Tuesday.

The Ticino native began her career in 1998 at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and she subsequently held various positions at Ernst & Young (now EY), Cablecom, Sunrise Communications, and the Basler Kantonalbank, among others.

Three Years as Bank Cler CEO

Most recently she was CEO of Bank Cler, which had a rotating door of CEOs in recent years. Vacalli was only in the post for three years at the subsidiary of the Basler Kantonalbank. At Bank Cler,  she hoped to implement crypto and wallet plans, among other initiatives.

In addition to her mandate as a member of the board of directors of Swiss Post, Vacalli held various other board memberships since 2013. She is currently a member of the board of directors of Burckhardt Compression, the advisory board of Kontivia, the foundation board of the Swiss Society for Marketing (GfM), the board of directors of ETH Juniors, and a member of the technical board of GRDigital, according to the statement.

Vacalli succeeds Juerg Brun, who is stepping down at his request after five years on the Board of Postfinance, according to the statement.
