The Geneva-based Swiss private bank with branches in Zurich and Geneva, has looked beyond banking for its new chair.

HSBC Swiss Private Bank is appointing Yannick Hausmann as non-executive chair, effective immediately. He replaces Andreas von Planta, who is retiring after 12 years in the chairman position, it said in an emailed statement Tuesday.

Hausmann, a qualified attorney-at-law, joins the private bank after a 22-year tenure at Zurich Insurance where he last served as Group General Counsel.

Non-Executive Role

The incoming chairman joined HSBC Private Bank’s board as a non-executive director in September last year and most recently served as senior advisor to HSBC's Group CEO, according to the statement.

«We are delighted that Dr. Hausmann has been appointed as Chair - his extensive experience and track record make him an ideal choice. We are confident that he will bring extremely valuable perspectives and insights to help guide our bank as we continue to grow into a leading ultra-high-net-worth bank in Switzerland,» CEO of HSBC's Swiss Private Bank, Gabriel Castello, said in the statement.
