Swiss venture capital firm Verve Ventures has wrapped up a new funding round and brought on board a prominent director to its board.

To further invest in its digital platform and drive new partnerships, Zurich-based Verve Ventures (Verve) has raised a Series C funding round from several high-profile investors. At the same time, former CEO of Zuercher Kantonalbank, Martin Scholl, joins the company's board of directors.

«As an investor, I am fascinated by venture capital and want to help other people discover it for themselves. By joining Verve's board of directors, I want to signal to everyone that I believe in the company,» Scholl said.

Private Bank Also Aboard

Verve is working to build a portfolio of startup investments across Europe, and its assets under management are now more than 300 million Swiss francs ($330 million), with over 1,500 executives and entrepreneurs said to have invested in the company, Verve writes.

Recently, Swiss private bank Bergos partnered with Verve, while angel investor clubs in seven European countries have established ties with Verve, says Verce co-founder Lukas Weber.

Verve claims to be among the top ten most active venture capitalists in Europe. Founded in Switzerland in 2010, the company has offices in Zurich, Paris, and Berlin and a team of about 50 employees. The firm has invested in 170 science- and technology-focused startups from the seed stage onwards.
