Christine Novakovic is taking her leave from the head job at UBS Europe to focus on an expanded role in wealth management. Her successor has earned his spurs in the bank's German business.

Tobias Vogel takes over as CEO of UBS Europe at the beginning of July. The former head of investment banking and asset management in Germany will succeed Christine Novakovic (pictured below) at the helm of the Frankfurt-based institution, where the Swiss bank bundles its European business.

Focus on Credit Suisse Integration

The well-known manager, who has been with the bank for more than twelve years in various positions, has headed Europabank since September 2019. She will continue her work for UBS in her new, expanded role in UBS's core Global Wealth Management (GWM) division as part of the Credit Suisse integration, according to a statement on the personnel change. 

In the future, Novakovic will focus «unreservedly» on her new, expanded role as head of GWM EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), it said.

Vogel has been with UBS for nearly 20 years, working primarily in Frankfurt and London. Since 2019, a member of the executive board of UBS Europe.

Responsible for Italy

In the German business, he was instrumental in the successful alignment and further development and turnaround of the business, it added. He has established UBS as one of the leading wealth managers in Germany. As CEO of UBS Europe, Vogel will continue his current responsibilities and assume additional responsibility for the GWM business in Italy within UBS Europe.
