Geneva-based Union Bancaire Privée is reorganizing its asset management and appointing three key positions.

Christian Betzel, until recently head of Wholesale Sales for Germany and Austria at Wellington Management, has a new employer. Starting this month, he is the Managing Director and Head of Wholesales at Union Bancaire Privée Asset Management (UBP AM), as first reported by «Private Banking Magazin» (in German)

Two Decades of Experience

Betzel began his career in the financial industry in 2002 as a portfolio manager at Bank Schilling & Co. He later served as sales director for Nordea Fondsservice. At Wellington Management, he served as head of wholesale for Germany, Austria, and Luxembourg from 2016 to 2019, and was promoted to head of wholesale sales for the Emea region (Europe, Middle East, Africa) in January 2020.

In March 2023, Betzel left Wellington Management for personal reasons. His position was taken over by Marco Naeder, who has since expanded the asset manager's wholesale business and wealth segment in Germany and Austria.
