The US-based investment management business appoints a recognized distribution specialist in a newly created role.

PGIM Investments has appointed widely acknowledged financial industry expert Rochus Appert as the country head for Switzerland, according to a media release distributed on Monday by the asset management firm, a subsidiary of US-based insurer Prudential Financial.

Appert and his team will be located in Zurich. In the newly created role, he will be responsible for increasing PGIM's presence in Switzerland while expanding its relationships with private banks, asset managers, fund houses, and other intermediaries. He reports to the head of international distribution Matt Shafer.

Extensive Experience

Appert, as the new country head, has almost 30 years of experience in Swiss finance. His last position was at Columbia Threadneedle where he was the head of discretionary sales in Switzerland.

Before that, he held a number of leadership roles, including heading the intermediary sales function for Central Europe at BMO Global Asset Management before it was taken over by Columbia Threadneedle. He has also held positions at US-based State Street Global Advisors, Credit Suisse, and Germany's West LB.
