The partners of KPMG Switzerland have elected Pascal Sprenger as their new CEO. The company announced the move on Wednesday. Sprenger takes office on October 1, 2026.

He succeeds Stefan Pfister, who has led KPMG Switzerland for twelve years. Pfister will remain engaged in a senior role within the KPMG network until March 2027, before taking on external board mandates, the statement said.

A Banking Expert With a Long Track Record

Sprenger, 46, is a KPMG veteran. He has worked at the firm for more than 20 years, becoming partner in 2015. Since October 2024, he has headed the Financial Services division and sat on KPMG Switzerland's executive board.

Sprenger is no stranger to finews readers. He discussed the state of the financial center after the demise of Credit Suisse in a finews podcast (German only). Last June, together with study author Christian Hintermann, he also presented KPMG's annual study on Swiss private banks, with a new edition due shortly.

Successor in the Division Still Open

Pfister is considered a key architect of the merger between KPMG Switzerland and KPMG UK, which made the firm the second-largest unit in the KPMG network after the US. KPMG Switzerland employs more than 2,600 people and generated net revenue of 561.6 million francs in the 2025 financial year.

Commenting on his election, Sprenger said, «Stefan Pfister is handing me a successful, high-performing, and future-oriented company. I am all the more pleased to continue on the path we have taken and to actively shape the future of KPMG Switzerland.»
