Portfolio Chief Exits Zurich’s Oldest Private Bank for Wealth Manager
The independent asset manager Alpen Partners has named Nicolai Nussbaumer as its new head of portfolio management.
Nussbaumer took up the role in October. Based in Freienbach, he will lead portfolio management across all Alpen Partners’ locations, including Zurich, Lugano and Geneva. The appointment comes as Alpen Partners restructures its operations following significant growth in its client base and workforce, prompting the creation of the new position. He will also oversee portfolio management at affiliated firms Alpen Partners International and Goldbach Capital, which operate under the same holding company. He reports to Pierre Gabris, CEO of the Alpen Group.
Veteran of Zurich’s Oldest Private Bank
Nussbaumer joins from private bank Rahn + Bodmer, where he spent 22 years. For the past 15 years, he served as head of portfolio management in Zurich. He also held the position of deputy head of financial services and, between 2022 and 2023, intermittently served as head of financial analysis.
Earlier in his career, he worked as a senior portfolio manager at Rahn + Bodmer. He began his career at UBS in Zurich, joining through an internship before moving to the bank’s active advisory team.
