UBS Veteran Retires
A long career at UBS is coming to an end: Claudio Scarfone will leave the Swiss banking giant at the end of October 2026 and retire. UBS’s media office confirmed corresponding information from finews.
Scarfone is among the experienced executives in the business with external asset managers (EAM). During his many years at UBS, he held various management positions in the Financial Intermediaries (FIM) area.
Long-Serving Head of The Swiss Business
For many years, Scarfone was responsible for UBS’s entire Swiss FIM business. This included German-speaking Switzerland, Romandy, Ticino and the business with institutional financial intermediaries.
From 2015, he also took responsibility for the Emerging Markets segment. He was therefore one of the defining figures in the large bank’s business with independent asset managers.
Reorganization After The CS Takeover
As part of the integration of Credit Suisse, the business with external asset managers was also reorganized.
As finews reported in March 2024, Andreas Moser then took responsibility for the FIM business in German-speaking Switzerland. Scarfone then focused on French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino.
The reorganization was part of the merger of the two banks, which have traditionally been strongly represented in the business with independent asset managers.
Strategically Important Business
The business with independent asset managers is one of the key areas of UBS’s Swiss wealth management business. The large bank provides external asset managers with services including custody banking, trading solutions and investment expertise.
With the integration of Credit Suisse, the importance of this business has increased further. At the same time, the merger of the two client platforms places high demands on the support of independent asset managers.
Scarfone has accompanied the development of this business for many years and has particularly shaped relations with financial intermediaries in French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino.
