BB Biotech Reports Fivefold Frofit Increase To 605 Million Swiss Francs

The biotechnology-focused investment company BB Biotech generated a profit after taxes of 605 million Swiss francs in the first nine months of the current year. In the same period a year earlier, the company had reported a profit of 106 million Swiss francs.

That means the result increased nearly sixfold, BB Biotech said on Friday when it published its interim report for the end of September 2026.

Sharp Decline in The Third Quarter

In the third quarter, however, the trend cooled markedly. BB Biotech posted a profit of 175 million Swiss francs. In the same quarter of the previous year, the figure had been 448 million Swiss francs. That represents a decline of around 61 percent.

While the nine-month figures therefore show a notable improvement, the latest quarter remained well below the result of the previous year.

Share Prices Drive The Result

For BB Biotech as an investment company, the reported result is largely determined by the share price performance of the portfolio holdings. Gains and losses therefore primarily reflect changes in the value of the biotech stocks held.

The published figures on their own do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about which individual portfolio companies made the main contribution to the performance.
