The court ruling in the Cahuzac case against Banque Reyl has been set to take place before year-end. The bank's chief executive faces as many as 18 months in prison in case of a conviction.

Banque Reyl and its boss, François Reyl, will get to know the verdict in the Cahuzac case on December 8, according to a report by «AWP» (paywall) newswire.

The Reyl CEO faces as many as 18 months probation and a fine of as much as 375,000 euros.

Abetting Tax Fraud

The French prosecutor on Wednesday also asked for a five-year ban to do business in France for Reyl, in addition to a fine of 1.875 million euros for abetting tax fraud.

The prosecutor claims that the bank actively helped former French Budget Minister Jérôme Cahuzac to conceal his wealth. Cahuzac entrusted Reyl with managing a secret account abroad. He admitted to the ownership of the account in 2013 after lying publicly for months.
