After taking the lead at the asset management division of Credit Suisse in June, Eric Varvel has now presented a thorough reshuffle of his management team with an organizational adjustment.

Eric Varvel replaced Bob Jain as the head of asset management of Credit Suisse (CS) in June. He has now announced the results of a management reshuffle, which he announced in an internal memo obtained by finews.ch. Varvel's major appointment is that of Bill Johnson as head of asset management Americas, in addition to his role as deputy global head of asset management.

The other important appointment is that of Michel Degen as head of asset management in Switzerland and EMEA.

Global Distribution Remains Key Pillar

Johnson will be in charge of the commodities, credit investments, securitized products and private funds, with Anteil Capital Partners, NEXT and Mexico Credit Opportunities Trust reporting to him as well, in addition to the other Americas-based units which he currently runs.

Niklaus Hilti will continue to run insurance linked strategies and report to Bill. Charlie Shaffer will continue as global head of distribution, reporting to Varvel. «Global distribution remains a key pillar of our strategy and an integral component of our growth going forward,» Varvel said in the memo.

Strobaek Remains Global CIO

Tim Blackwell will continue to manage the real estate business in Switzerland, reporting to Degen, as will Harald Réczek, who remains in charge of Swiss and EMEA distribution.

Degen replaces Michael Strobaek at asset management in Switzerland. Strobaek remains the global chief investment officer of CS and head of investment solutions and products for IWM.

Mike D’Angelo, global chief of staff, and Peter Norley, global chief operating officer, will continue in their roles on a global basis.
