A former member of the executive board of Vescore, the asset manager recently acquired by Bank Vontobel, is taking his current team from a U.S. asset manager to the Zurich branch of German rival Aquila Capital.

Urs Schubiger, Patrick Gander and Egon Ruetsche are joining Aquila Capital (Germany), the company said in a statement today. The three worked for Achievement Asset Management LLC, a U.S. hedge fund provider.

The team will be known as Systematic Trading Group and managed by Schubiger. It will assume responsibility for the company's risk parity products and expand Aquila's offering of systematic strategies.

Ex-Vescore, Ex-1741 Asset Management

Schubiger was a member of the executive board of Vescore, the Raiffeisen unit recently sold to Vontobel. He was the head of investment at 1741 Asset Management, the predecessor of Vescore.

Gander previously also worked for 1741 Asset Management as co-head of research.

Hamburg-based Aquila Capital in December caught the headlines with a string of hirings. The company has some 200 employees in Europe and primarily serves institutional investors. Aquila Capital has no connection to Aquila, the Zurich-based asset manager.
