Swiss private bank Julius Baer is hiring three bankers in London, a sign of its commitment to the U.K. despite a vote to leave the European Union.

Zurich-based Baer said it is poaching Ella Riesco from Alliance Trust and Investments, transferring Loris Vallone from Zurich to London, and hiring Luke Downes from Sanlam Private Wealth.

Downes, formerly head of global clients at the South African wealth firm, will head a team of portfolio managers to expand the Baer's services in London.

Richest British Clients

Previously a long-time Credit Suisse banker, Vallone's (pictured below) job is to develop Baer's international product and service offering. He had been head of Italy's domestic market and was instrumental in integrating Baer's acquisition of asset manager Kairos.

Riesco has been hired as head of marketing and communications in the UK. She is tasked with expanding Baer's brand outside of London itself, to the wealthiest British potential clients across the UK.

«These appointments are a further demonstration of Julius Baer’s ambitions in the UK and its commitment to the market,» said David Durlacher, who has been head of the Swiss bank's activities in Britain for just over a year.
