Julius Baer is hiring a former J.P. Morgan private banker in a sign of its ambitions to grow in the U.K. and Ireland.

The Swiss private bank said on Tuesday it has appointed Tracey Reddings as front office head effective May 15, as part of an expansion of its offering in Britain and Ireland.

Reddings is currently employed by J.P. Morgan's private-banking arm, where she is a managing director.

She will report to Julius Baer international head David Durlacher and oversee the client-facing business, Zurich-based Julius Baer said in a statement.

J.P. Morgan Change

Reddings departure from J.P. Morgan comes several months after the American bank named Oliver Gregson as head of its private bank in the U.K. and Nordic countries.

Besides her banking role, Reddings chairs a private-banking committee of the British Bankers Association.

«She will play a pivotal role in ensuring that we focus our efforts and champion the voice of all our clients to provide an exceptional wealth management offering,» Durlacher said.

Her previous roles include senior positions at SGPB Hambros Bank and the Charities Aid Foundation Group.
