UBS, Asia's largest wealth manager, has appointed a new head of innovation for greater China, finews.com has learned.

Industry veteran Cat Ruest joined UBS in May as head of innovation technologies for greater China, a source familiar with the hire told finews.com. The Swiss bank mandated her with driving client engagement. 

Ruest will be based in Hong Kong and report to Alice Page, UBS private bank's chief of staff for China.

Ruest (pictured below) has extensive leadership experience driving mobile, internet and software related transformation with large enterprises and start-ups.

Prior to her career in technology, she spent 5 years in China in a variety of different industries in operational roles. She speaks Mandarin, French, German and was born and raised in Asia.

Ruest was also named a top 20 female entrepreneur to watch by ANZ Bank.

Earlier this month, finews.com reported that the former head of UBS' digital efforts in private banking, Dave Bruno, who cut a colorful figure in Zurich's staid finance circles, had resurfaced after leaving the Swiss bank earlier this year.
