The developers of cryptocurrency Tezos are upping the ante in a bitter feud with their Swiss foundation run by Johann Gevers. Will it work? finews.com reports.

Tezos, a promising blockchain project, has been embroiled in a feud between its developers, led by Arthur and Kathleen Breitman, and a Swiss foundation run by Johann Gevers which was meant to govern the asset.

The two are at an impasse, which essentially froze progress of the «Tezzie» coin, supposed to have been launched last summer. The skirmish has also given birth to at least six class-action lawsuits by disgruntled investors – – and unwanted attention for Switzerland's efforts to establish itself as a crypto hub.

Behind the scenes, the Breitmans reportedly paid a handful of technology developers out of pocket to keep the project going, in lieu of the foundation doing so.

«Rogue» Launch

Now, signs are emerging that the project is coming to fruition: Kathleen Breitman reportedly told a gathering of university students that Tezos wants to launch the Tezzie imminently, without waiting for the foundation to weigh in.

«We plan on releasing the token and going rogue in the next few weeks. We’re able to release the token on our own terms,» Breitman said according to «Blockchain Beach».

«For awhile I felt like I was being gaslit, but then I unburdened myself of the morality of it. Things needed to move forward. It’s unfair, but we need to ship the code.» Responding to a finews.com request to clarify her comments, Breitman didn't address the plans. Her husband, who leads a 10-person team of developers in Paris, didn't mention them either in his weekly update on Saturday:

The Tezos token isn’t a physical asset, so in theory anyone who controls the technology could launch it. It appears to be a game of brinkmanship, computer scientist Luzius Meisser told finews.com.

«The developers are going rogue to put the foundation under pressure and force their hand. It’s a battle of technology that one side owns against the money that the other side has taken in.»
