A community of 1,700 supporters of Tezos is making alternative arrangements to get the embattled cryptocurrency off the ground. 

The promising cryptocurrency is mired in a bitter feud between its authors, Arthur and Kathleen Breitman, and the head of a Swiss foundation set up to govern its record-breaking coin offering last year, Johann Gevers.

The months-long dispute has hobbled the technology, which was supposed to have launched shortly after the token took in $232 million last year. Tezos has a handful of developers working on the technology, but the foundation hasn't paid any of them, according to Kathleen Breitman. She told the «The Wall Street Journal» that the project could lift off in a test phase in five weeks – if the foundation issues were solved.

Money vs Backing

The developers, investors, and other backers around the Breitmans aren't happy to wait and see what happens next: they are launching a separate foundation dubbed T2 as well as an association in Switzerland. The move puts more structural muscle into opposition from a community of several thousand investors, developers and other backers to the Breitmans.

«We hope that the Tezos Foundation is able to fulfill its charter and is prepared to launch the Tezos network but, regardless, the network needs a place to launch if the Tezos Foundation is not able to do so in an adequate or timely manner,» the community's organizers wrote in a six-page paper published online.
