The head of Avobis is leaving the Swiss property specialist with immediate effect, finews.com has learned.

Alessandro Carroccia is leaving Zurich-based Avobis, a source familiar with the situation told finews.com. A spokesman for the firm confirmed that Carroccia had left the company, without elaborating.

Carroccia's job will be temporarily filled by Thomas Abegg (pictured below), Avobis' majority shareholder, chairman, and previous CEO.

The firm said it would disclose further details of Carroccia's exit after just 17 months at the helm at a later date. Previously, he ran Julius Baer's mortgage business for more than ten years.

Under Carroccia, Avobis acquired Hypothekenboerse, an independent Swiss mortgage broker. He also recruited heavily from Julius Baer, including Sandro Sulcis as head of sales, Daniel Frey as digital chief, and Michèle Graf for an expansion in French-speaking Switzerland.
