Former Credit Suisse and Falcon private banking heavyweight Erich Pfister has turned up in a new Swiss banking job. He is being tasked with helping a Franco-German bank grow in Switzerland.

Erich Pfister left embattled Falcon Private Bank more than a year ago. On Wednesday, Oddo BHF said it is hiring Pfister to build its wealth arm in Switzerland. The veteran Swiss private banker will report to Joachim Haeger, who oversees Oddo BHF's wealth management in Germany, France, and Switzerland.

Under French banker Philippe Oddo, the bank has expanded rapidly in the last four years with three key acquisitions including BHF-Bank in 2016. Besides private banking, Oddo BHF also offers investment banking and asset management.

«In addition to our domestic markets of Germany and France, we are expanding Switzerland as the group's third pillar and are developing targeted international markets», Haeger said in a statement.

Illustrious History

BHF's history is illustrious: founded in 1970, it was bought by Deutsche Bank, then offloaded and combined with Kleinwort Benson four years ago by RHJ International, a finance vehicle led by former Dresdner Bank investment banking boss and Credit Suisse banker Leonhard Fischer.

Pfister spent just two years at Falcon, which was ensnared in the 1MDB scandal. Previously, he held various senior roles at Credit Suisse and Clariden Leu, including as head of the Middle East and Asia and head of emerging markets.
