Crypto Fund has bulked up with the appointment of one of the few blockchain researchers in Switzerland.


Fabian Schaer joins the board of Crypto Fund, according to a statement Tuesday. As reported by finews.com, the subsidiary of the Zug- and Zurich-based Crypto Finance, is the first cryptomanager to obtain a licence from Swiss market regulator Finma.

Schaer is currently director of the Center for Innovative Finance at the University of Basel. His research area includes applications based on the blockchain technology, as well as smart contracts, the transfer of financial assets into blockchain-based units (token) and other aspects of the ground-breaking distributed-ledger-technology. He is also the author of the German-language publication «Bitcoin, Blockchain und Kryptoassets.»

The financing of Schaer’s professorship at the University is provided by Credit Suisse Asset Management (Switzerland), the funds unit of the second-largest Swiss bank.
