Swiss financial advisers 1291Group is expanding its presence in Asia. For the Zurich business, the firm has engaged a former banker from Julius Baer as a partner.

Zurich-based 1291Group is expanding in Asia and has appointed a CEO for Singapore, the company said in a statement. Roger Chi, an experienced relationship manager, will assume responsibility for the office in the city state.

Chi was a partner at family office Candareen Capital and head of Asia at the family office of Sheikh Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Emirates airlines. Chi will work closely with the Hong Kong-based staff of 1291Group.

New Partner in Zurich

The company in Zurich has taken Leonidas Charitos on board as a partner. Charitos most recently was at private bank Julius Baer and previously at Klesch Family Office. He will be responsible for private clients from Latin America to the Middle East.

1291Group now has a group of 15 partners – it started with eight this year. Until 2015, the company had been operative under the name of NMG International Financial Services and was mainly active as an insurance broker.

Meanwhile, the business has shifted to advisory, both in the insurance segment as well as other financial services and precious metals.
