When Sallfort Privatbank and Banque Heritage merged last year, Sallfort’s private equity business became surplus to requirements. It has now relaunched under the name of Bulb Capital.
The founder of Bulb Capital is Michael Bornhaeusser (pictured left), an erstwhile partner at Sallfort and risk capital expert. His new company will primarily continue the transactions undertaken while still under the roof of Sallfort Privatbank, mainly in the venture capital business and with so-called club deals in real estate investments. Club deals are direct investments in non-listed firms by groups of investors.
Basel-based Bulb Capital is focusing on business in the Anglo-Saxon and Latin American markets. Since 2010, the business has completed six venture capital exits and undertaken three real estate club deals over the past three years.
Team of Three Partners
The company also has plenty of transactions in its pipeline. Bornhaeuser has teamed up with Dominik Joos (pictured left) and Patrick Dreyfus (pictured below) as partners. Joos is an ICT specialist and also worked for Sallfort, while Dreyfus is an entrepreneur and investor.
He worked as CEO of Regent Lighting for 15 years, a 100-year-old family firm. Dreyfus will remain loyal to the lighting company as a shareholder and member of the board.
