Technology startups never before raised as much funding as last year, according to a report that also shows which firms received the most investment.

Banks may have had a rather torrid second half of 2018, but tech firms did very well. Startups received more money than in 2017: the Swiss-based companies raised 1.24 billion Swiss francs ($1.24 billion) in 230 financing rounds. The total increased 32 percent or 299 million francs compared with 2017.

The figures were compiled by «startupticker.ch», an online portal, together with Swiss Private Equity & Corporate Finance Association (SECA) and published in the Swiss Venture Capital Report. ICT startups had the biggest increase in funding, the report showed.

IT and communications tech firms raised 682 million francs last year, up 120 percent from a year earlier. Biotech startups received 253 million, med tech took 123 million francs and digital health startups 45 million francs.
