Saxo Bank has appointed a new chief executive officer for the Swiss business. He will replace Patrick Hunger, a banker known for his admiration of new technological solutions.

Renato Santi is the new CEO of Saxo Bank Switzerland, the company confirmed to finews.com. Predecessor Patrick Hunger is leaving the company.

Santi recently was active as a consultant, having previously worked in private banking. He spent eleven years at BSI and, after its takeover, at EFG International. He left EFG when the firm concluded the takeover of BSI.

Robots and Robo Advisers

Hunger (pictured below) took over at Saxo Switzerland in 2016 and made himself a name as an executive with a high degree of technological expertise.

At the Zurich branch, the bank for a time employed a robot to welcome its clients. Under his guidance, Saxo also became known for its robo advisory solution. Hunger will now dedicate himself to new challenges, for example «digital transformation projects».

Further Growth

Santi was responsible for Switzerland and Europe during his time at BSI, the bank based in the Ticino region of Switzerland. His brief at Saxo is to make the bank grow further as a provider of tech-driven investment and trading solutions.
