Genevan private bank Mirabaud has a new head of the Zurich branch. The experienced banker joined from rival J. Safra Sarasin, according to information obtained by finews.com.

The manager position of Mirabaud Zurich was vacant for eight long months after the departure of René Hermann, who left to open a headhunting firm.

Now, Mirabaud finally has been able to appoint his successor, said to be Michael Hoesli. He joins from J. Safra Sarasin, the private bank based in Basel.

A Safra Sarasin Veteran

Hoesli spent fifteen years at Safra Sarasin and didn't appear much in a public capacity. This, it is said, counted in his favor, because he will be able to start from scratch. He is also said to be taking a team of bankers along to Mirabaud.

Mirabaud needs exactly that, experienced bankers with a strong sense of dedication. The branch in Zurich is highly important, according to Yves Mirabaud, the senior managing partner who spoke to finews.com earlier this week.

The Right Person

The bank also has a slight weakness in the German-speaking markets. Yves Mirabaud wants to push the German business for instance.

Hoesli didn't want to comment and Mirabaud declined to answer questions posed by finews.com. The bank did however refer to the statement by Mirabaud where he said that the right person had been appointed and would start in due course later this year
