RobecoSAM is losing not just one CEO, Daniel Wild, to Credit Suisse. Co-CEO Marius Dorfmeister is also leaving the sustainable asset manager.

Zurich-based RobecoSAM faces a leadership vacuum after both CEOs opted to leave the asset manager on Friday. Daniel Wild is leaving for Credit Suisse, as finews.com reported. His co-CEO, Marius Dorfmeister (pictured below), is also leaving RobecoSAM, the company disclosed on its website.

Dorfmeister 501

The departures are the latest in a series of top management exits at the sustainability specialist: Wild and Dorfmeister ran RobecoSAM for less than a year after previous CEO Aris Prepoudis departed in a streamlining last May.

Succession Plans

Prepoudis wasn't in the job for very long either: he took over in 2017, after Michael Baldinger left for UBS. While Wild's next step is clear – he will work for Marisa Drew at Credit Suisse – it is not known where Dorfmeister is headed.

The money manager said that it would decide on their succession shortly. «The board of RobecoSAM will do everything required to establish a proper leadership setup for the future to ensure RobecoSAM can continue the successful business development realized over the past few years» Chairman Kuno Kennel said.

Assets Doubled

The company said it has doubled its assets managed in Zurich since 2017. Wild will remain with RobecoSAM for a handover and transition, while Dorfmeister may leave as soon as the end of this month.

The vacuum represents a setback for the sustainability pioneer – though the fact that its top talent is desirable to big banks like UBS and Credit Suisse is a testament to RobecoSAM's success. While the specialist manager has 25 years of experience in sustainability, traditional finance has only recently jumped on the bandwagon.
