Another U.S. Internet giant starts to make inroads into the Swiss banking industry: Google Pay has reached an agreement with a retail bank in Basel, which will introduce the payment solutions to its service package.

Baloise Bank Soba has introduced Google Pay as a digital payment solution, the company said in a statement released on Tuesday. The bank, which belongs to insurance firm Baloise, provides its clients with the following choice of payment solutions: Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Fitbit Pay, Garmin Pay and Google Pay – as well as Switzerland’s Twint payment application.

Prominent Partners

Google Pay was launched in Switzerland in April. Credit Suisse, Cornèrcard, Bonuscard, Swiss Bankers, Revolut and Boon as well as fintech Neon (with its partner Hypothekarbank Lenzburg) were among the first to include the solution.

Baloise Bank Soba says the introduction of mobile options meets consumer demand for simple and safe payment solutions.
