Bergos Berenberg private bank is adding firepower to its board and elected an ex-UBS banker as chairman. An experienced lawyer will help the bank with vital knowledge about rich clients.

Having already had the backing of experienced businesspeople and managers, private bank Bergos Berenberg now counts on the expertise of a veteran bank executive and wealth manager. Christof Kutscher (pictured below) has been elected to the board, according to a statement released on Wednesday. He was made chairman, a position previously held by Christian Kuehn.

The bank also elected Patricia Guerra to the board. Guerra is a lawyer and partner at Meyerlustenberger Lachenal and has a formidable reputation as adviser of rich clients and families.

Her expertise is much sought after and is the reason why Bergos Berenberg elected her to the board. The bank was spun off from Hamburg’s Berenberg Privatbank. A group of Swiss and German entrepreneurs and some of its managers had teamed up in late 2018 and had bought a majority stake in the Swiss unit.

Kutscher is an expert in global markets. He also is the chair of Axa Investment Managers. Previously, he acted as head of Asia Pacific UBS Global Asset Management and as a member of the group managing board of UBS.
