The Swiss wealth manager is poaching a senior private banker from Genevan rival Pictet. The new joiner is well-connected to Zurich's wealthy and charitable circles.

Swiss private bank Bergos Berenberg is hiring Ulrich Gnos (pictured below), a senior client adviser at Pictet since 2012. Previously, Gnos was with Clariden Leu, now part of Credit Suisse, and with Deutsche Bank.

«The proof we are on the right track is if we can hire very experienced and productive private bankers,» Bergos Berenberg CEO Peter Raskin said in a statement. He is seeking to revive the Zurich-based wealth manager, which split from parent Berenberg in Hamburg last year, into an alternative to giants like UBS and Credit Suisse, Raskin told finews.com.

Gnos is an adviser to Scintillae, a Zurich-based foundation devoted to education and infrastructure such as water in remote villages.  He is well-connected within Zurich's wealthy and charitable circles.
