KBL is hiring a former UBS top executive, finews.com has learned. She is the latest in a series of new hires by the Luxembourg wealth manager under new CEO Juerg Zeltner.

Donna Burns, a former group managing director at Zurich-based UBS, is heading for KBL, a source familiar with her hire told finews.com. Burns left the Swiss giant, where she was the worldwide head of human resources for the 23,618-employee wealth management arm, three months ago, as finews.com reported exclusively.

Her hire to lead KBL's human resources group-wide coincides with a major hiring push since Juerg Zeltner, UBS' former top private banker, took the helm. Since then, the Luxembourg boutique, which is owned by Qatar's ruling al-Thani family, has replenished its bench, including several former UBS bankers.

KBL Adds Bulk

Burns is a high-flyer in her field, having advanced at UBS to one of the Swiss bank's most valuable 100 bankers who report directly to top management shortly before exiting. She didn't respond to a request for comment from finews.com; a spokesman for KBL declined to comment. Burns previously spent nine years at Goldman Sachs, where she was also an MD, and at British wealth manager Coutts.

Her hire underscores KBL's newfound determination to bulk up under Zeltner, who along with two other former top executives linked to UBS invested in a vehicle linked to KBL. A small Swiss office under ex-Credit Suisse banker Dagmar Kamber-Borens dove into the acquisition of Bank am Bellevue, due to wrap up early next year. KBL is also snapping up other key executives in a bid to rebrand itself as a partnership in the mold of Pictet.
