Credit Suisse will remain the main sponsor of Swiss football, a role it has held for more than a quarter of a century.

Credit Suisse and the Swiss Football Association have extended their cooperation agreement by four years, they said in a joint statement on Wednesday. The second-biggest bank will remain sponsor of Swiss football until at least 2024 under the terms of the agreement.

The deal includes the national football teams of men and women, the national youth teams as well as the beach soccer team. The bank has been the sponsor of the men’s football team since 1993 and of the women’s team since 2008.

Popular School Competition

«The footballing successes of our small country are testimony to what is possible if good conditions prevail, the best talents are brought together, formed professionally and if the readiness to perform is high,» said Thomas Gottstein, head of Credit Suisse Switzerland.

Half of the money paid by Credit Suisse under the terms of the sponsorship agreement is dedicated to youth football. The bank also sponsors the Credit Suisse Cup, an annual competition for school teams. An average of 5,600 teams participate each year in this popular tournament.
